- Imerys Ceramics data sheet 'G-200 EU', First Edition, September 2013 (copy hosted by Digitalfire) (2013-09)
Potash feldspar from Spain, made by flotation from feldspathic sand and imported by Imerys as the replacement for G-200 after the Georgia mine closed. The data sheet gives 70% K-feldspar, 23% Na-feldspar and 7% quartz.
Oxide analysis and unity formula
Glazecalc has the analysis of G-200 EU Feldspar as weight percent of the raw material. The unity contribution is the moles of each oxide in the amount of G-200 EU Feldspar that holds 1.0 mole of flux, which is how Glazecalc adds it into a recipe's unity formula.
| Oxide | Weight % | Unity contribution |
|---|---|---|
| SiO₂ | 68.5 | 7.057 |
| Al₂O₃ | 17 | 1.032 |
| Fe₂O₃ | 0.095 | 0.004 |
| TiO₂ | 0.03 | 0.002 |
| K₂O | 11 | 0.723 |
| Na₂O | 2.1 | 0.210 |
| CaO | 0.5 | 0.055 |
| MgO | 0.08 | 0.012 |
- Equivalent weight
- 618.95
- Fired weight
- 615.86
- Loss on ignition
- 0.5%
The equivalent weight is the grams of G-200 EU Feldspar that hold 1.0 mole of flux. The fired weight is what is left of that after firing.
Hazards and safety
Hazards: Contains crystalline silica (quartz, about 7%); avoid breathing the dust.
Use it in a recipe
Add G-200 EU Feldspar to a recipe in the Glazecalc calculator to see what it does to a glaze's unity formula.
