Use Glazecalc from your AI assistant
AI assistants such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor and Gemini can use Glazecalc’s calculations directly, through the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
What it can do
With no account, an assistant can look up materials in the library, work out a recipe’s unity formula, check it against the limits for its firing, suggest substitutes for discontinued materials, remake a recipe from the materials you name, convert between cones and temperatures, and search and read the guides. Nothing it sends is saved; as for every page, the web server’s log records each request’s IP address, time and address (never what was sent), for 14 days.
The limit checks are cautions from published limits, the same as in the app, not proof that a glaze is food safe. Test-fire every glaze, and have glazes for food surfaces tested for leaching.
Letting it change your records
A token made to "Read and change" also lets your assistant save a recipe it worked out with you, with Glazecalc working out its unity formula, change one of your recipes or materials, add to your notebook, mark materials as on hand, and move a record to the Trash. It never deletes anything for good: whatever it moves to the Trash can be put back for 30 days, and each change keeps the record as it was, so you can undo it on the website. What each token did is kept for you, in Download my data on your account page.
Make a token that can change your records only for an assistant or script you trust, and ask it to say what it will change before it does. Give it the shortest time that will do (such a token lasts at most 90 days), keep a read-only token for everything else, and revoke it once the work is done. Download your data from your account page first if you want a copy as it is.
The address
Give your assistant this address, using the Streamable HTTP transport:
http://localhost/mcpAdding Glazecalc to your assistant
Claude Code
In a terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http glazecalc http://localhost/mcpWith an access token, to read your own records too:
claude mcp add --transport http glazecalc http://localhost/mcp \
--header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN"VS Code
In .vscode/mcp.json in a folder, or your user settings. VS Code asks for the token once and keeps it hidden; leave out headers and inputs to use only the tools that need no account:
{
"servers": {
"glazecalc": {
"type": "http",
"url": "http://localhost/mcp",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer ${input:glazecalc-token}"
}
}
},
"inputs": [
{
"type": "promptString",
"id": "glazecalc-token",
"description": "Glazecalc access token",
"password": true
}
]
}Cursor
In ~/.cursor/mcp.json, or .cursor/mcp.json in a project. Leave out headers to use only the tools that need no account:
{
"mcpServers": {
"glazecalc": {
"url": "http://localhost/mcp",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_TOKEN"
}
}
}
}Gemini CLI
In ~/.gemini/settings.json. Leave out headers to use only the tools that need no account:
{
"mcpServers": {
"glazecalc": {
"httpUrl": "http://localhost/mcp",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_TOKEN"
}
}
}
}Claude, ChatGPT and other apps
Add a custom connector with the address above. These apps cannot send an access token yet, so they get the tools that need no account. Reaching your own records from them will come with signing in from the app.
Stopping access
Each address can make 60 requests a minute and 2,000 a day; an account using a token, 300 a minute and 20,000 a day. Substitutions and matches are limited to 10 a minute. Changes made with tokens are limited to 60 a minute and 5,000 a day for each account, and each token can move 100 records an hour to the Trash.
