A very pure potash feldspar (86% potash feldspar, 7% soda feldspar, 5% quartz by the supplier's mineral analysis), with 14.5% K2O and under 1% Na2O, close to ideal orthoclase. Sold to potters by Sila Argille in Italy.
Oxide analysis and unity formula
Glazecalc has the analysis of Feldspato potassico (Sila Argille) as weight percent of the raw material. The unity contribution is the moles of each oxide in the amount of Feldspato potassico (Sila Argille) that holds 1.0 mole of flux, which is how Glazecalc adds it into a recipe's unity formula.
| Oxide | Weight % | Unity contribution |
|---|---|---|
| SiO₂ | 66.2 | 6.432 |
| Al₂O₃ | 17.6 | 1.008 |
| Fe₂O₃ | 0.042 | 0.002 |
| TiO₂ | 0.037 | 0.003 |
| CaO | 0.03 | 0.003 |
| MgO | 0.01 | 0.001 |
| Na₂O | 0.85 | 0.080 |
| K₂O | 14.55 | 0.902 |
| P₂O₅ | 0.08 | 0.003 |
| BaO | 0.36 | 0.014 |
- Equivalent weight
- 583.73
- Fired weight
- 582.27
- Loss on ignition
- 0.25%
The equivalent weight is the grams of Feldspato potassico (Sila Argille) that hold 1.0 mole of flux. The fired weight is what is left of that after firing.
Hazards and safety
Hazards: Fine dust contains respirable crystalline silica; avoid breathing it.
