Oxide analysis and unity formula
Glazecalc has the analysis of Pearl Ash as moles of each fired oxide per formula. The unity contribution is the moles of each oxide in the amount of Pearl Ash that holds 1.0 mole of flux, which is how Glazecalc adds it into a recipe's unity formula.
| Oxide | Moles | Unity contribution |
|---|---|---|
| K₂O | 1 | 1.000 |
- Equivalent weight
- 138.2
- Fired weight
- 94.2
- Loss on ignition
- 31.84%
The equivalent weight is the grams of Pearl Ash that hold 1.0 mole of flux. The fired weight is what is left of that after firing.
Hazards and safety
Hazards: Warning (Fisher UK SDS, potassium carbonate): H315 causes skin irritation; H319 causes serious eye irritation; H335 may cause respiratory irritation.
Use it in a recipe
Add Pearl Ash to a recipe in the Glazecalc calculator to see what it does to a glaze's unity formula.
