Hard, lead-free, clear borosilicate frit for earthenware at 1040-1100°C (Walker; expansion 69 x10^-7). It is named in older Australian recipes. Walker replaced it with 4131, which has itself been discontinued, so US Frit 3124 is now the nearest frit on sale.
Walker Ceramics already listed it as no longer available in October 2016.
Oxide analysis and unity formula
Glazecalc has the analysis of Ferro Frit 4113 as weight percent of the raw material. The unity contribution is the moles of each oxide in the amount of Ferro Frit 4113 that holds 1.0 mole of flux, which is how Glazecalc adds it into a recipe's unity formula.
| Oxide | Weight % | Unity contribution |
|---|---|---|
| SiO₂ | 59.43 | 3.471 |
| Al₂O₃ | 10.02 | 0.345 |
| B₂O₃ | 12.69 | 0.640 |
| CaO | 9.53 | 0.596 |
| K₂O | 3.51 | 0.131 |
| Na₂O | 4.82 | 0.273 |
- Equivalent weight
- 350.91
- Fired weight
- 350.91
- Loss on ignition
- 0%
The equivalent weight is the grams of Ferro Frit 4113 that hold 1.0 mole of flux. The fired weight is what is left of that after firing.
Hazards and safety
Hazards: No SDS seen. Frit is a ground glass with no free crystalline silica; avoid breathing the fine dust.
