A zinc borosilicate frit with no alumina and about 29% ZnO. Dutch recipes use it to add zinc in fritted form, for matte, crystalline and zinc-dependent colour effects. Sold by Keramikos and Cock Keramiek.

Oxide analysis and unity formula

Glazecalc has the analysis of Zinc Frit 32.22 (Keramikos) as weight percent of the raw material. The unity contribution is the moles of each oxide in the amount of Zinc Frit 32.22 (Keramikos) that holds 1.0 mole of flux, which is how Glazecalc adds it into a recipe's unity formula.

Oxides in Zinc Frit 32.22 (Keramikos)
Oxide Weight % Unity contribution
SiO₂46.251.407
B₂O₃11.460.301
ZnO29.380.660
CaO2.980.097
K₂O50.097
Na₂O4.940.146
Equivalent weight

The equivalent weight is the grams of Zinc Frit 32.22 (Keramikos) that hold 1.0 mole of flux. The fired weight is what is left of that after firing.

Hazards and safety

Hazards: Leadless. Keramikos and Cock Keramiek state that it is not classified as hazardous. Avoid breathing the dust.

Glazecalc shows the hazard wording as its record gives it. It is not a full risk assessment, so read the safety data sheet from your supplier. Before you handle any glaze material, read Safe mixing and ventilation and Glaze safety at home.
