Imerys Cornish china clay with more plasticity and slightly less iron and potash than Grolleg; very white firing. Made for porcelain bodies and used in glazes like any kaolin.
Oxide analysis and unity formula
Glazecalc has the analysis of Standard Porcelain China Clay as weight percent of the raw material. The unity contribution is the moles of each oxide in the amount of Standard Porcelain China Clay that holds 1.0 mole of flux, which is how Glazecalc adds it into a recipe's unity formula.
| Oxide | Weight % | Unity contribution |
|---|---|---|
| SiO₂ | 48 | 27.761 |
| Al₂O₃ | 36.5 | 12.440 |
| Fe₂O₃ | 0.72 | 0.157 |
| K₂O | 1.74 | 0.642 |
| TiO₂ | 0.04 | 0.017 |
| Na₂O | 0.1 | 0.056 |
| CaO | 0.07 | 0.043 |
| MgO | 0.3 | 0.259 |
- Equivalent weight
- 3474.94
- Fired weight
- 3040.57
- Loss on ignition
- 12.5%
The equivalent weight is the grams of Standard Porcelain China Clay that hold 1.0 mole of flux. The fired weight is what is left of that after firing.
Hazards and safety
Hazards: Fine dust; may contain traces of crystalline silica.
