Oxide analysis and unity formula
Glazecalc has the analysis of Soda Feldspar (Potclays 3427M / Potterycrafts P3317) as weight percent of the raw material. The unity contribution is the moles of each oxide in the amount of Soda Feldspar (Potclays 3427M / Potterycrafts P3317) that holds 1.0 mole of flux, which is how Glazecalc adds it into a recipe's unity formula.
| Oxide | Weight % | Unity contribution |
|---|---|---|
| SiO₂ | 70 | 6.496 |
| Al₂O₃ | 18 | 0.984 |
| CaO | 0.5 | 0.050 |
| K₂O | 0.4 | 0.024 |
| Na₂O | 10.3 | 0.927 |
| Fe₂O₃ | 0.06 | 0.002 |
| TiO₂ | 0.11 | 0.008 |
- Equivalent weight
- 557.57
- Fired weight
- 557.57
- Loss on ignition
- 0%
The equivalent weight is the grams of Soda Feldspar (Potclays 3427M / Potterycrafts P3317) that hold 1.0 mole of flux. The fired weight is what is left of that after firing.
Hazards and safety
Hazards: Fine dust contains respirable crystalline silica; avoid breathing it.
