A leadless alkali frit containing lithium, zinc and calcium. Suppliers describe it as a gloss frit, opacified by boron, with high surface tension, for clear, white and effect glazes. Expansion is 65.9 x 10^-7/K, with softening at 680 °C. Sold by Carl Jäger, BSZ and Rantzauer Töpferbedarf.
Oxide analysis and unity formula
Glazecalc has the analysis of Mondré & Manz Frit V 15 098 as weight percent of the raw material. The unity contribution is the moles of each oxide in the amount of Mondré & Manz Frit V 15 098 that holds 1.0 mole of flux, which is how Glazecalc adds it into a recipe's unity formula.
| Oxide | Weight % | Unity contribution |
|---|---|---|
| SiO₂ | 60.5 | 2.568 |
| Al₂O₃ | 8 | 0.200 |
| B₂O₃ | 5 | 0.183 |
| CaO | 8 | 0.364 |
| ZnO | 11 | 0.345 |
| K₂O | 5 | 0.135 |
| Na₂O | 1.3 | 0.054 |
| Li₂O | 1.2 | 0.102 |
- Equivalent weight
- 255.07
- Fired weight
- 255.07
- Loss on ignition
- 0%
The equivalent weight is the grams of Mondré & Manz Frit V 15 098 that hold 1.0 mole of flux. The fired weight is what is left of that after firing.
Hazards and safety
Hazards: Leadless frit (glass, CAS 65997-18-4). No SDS was found for this product. Similar leadless frits from Mondré & Manz and Reimbold & Strick are not classified as hazardous in their SDSs. Avoid breathing the dust.
