Lithium Carbonate
A standard material in Glazecalc's library: its oxide analysis, unity contribution and hazards.
What it is
- Kind
- Fluxes
- Formula
- Li₂CO₃
- Source
- Theoretical formula
Slightly soluble, toxic.
Oxide analysis and unity formula
Glazecalc has the analysis of Lithium Carbonate as moles of each fired oxide per formula. The unity contribution is the moles of each oxide in the amount of Lithium Carbonate that holds 1.0 mole of flux, which is how Glazecalc adds it into a recipe's unity formula.
| Oxide | Moles | Unity contribution |
|---|---|---|
| Li₂O | 1 | 1.000 |
- Equivalent weight
- 73.88
- Fired weight
- 29.88
- Loss on ignition
- 59.56%
The equivalent weight is the grams of Lithium Carbonate that hold 1.0 mole of flux. The fired weight is what is left of that after firing.
Hazards and safety
Hazards: Warning (CTM SDS 24): H302 harmful if swallowed; H319 causes serious eye irritation.
Use it in a recipe
Add Lithium Carbonate to a recipe in the Glazecalc calculator to see what it does to a glaze's unity formula.
