A calcium borate frit with one CaO to one B2O3 and no silica or alumina; Dutch recipes call it 'calciumboraatfritte 3221'. It is a concentrated boron source, chemically like colemanite without the water. Sold by Keramikos, Cock Keramiek, Ve-Ka and De Beeldhouwwinkel.
Oxide analysis and unity formula
Glazecalc has the analysis of Calcium Borate Frit 32.21 (Keramikos) as weight percent of the raw material. The unity contribution is the moles of each oxide in the amount of Calcium Borate Frit 32.21 (Keramikos) that holds 1.0 mole of flux, which is how Glazecalc adds it into a recipe's unity formula.
| Oxide | Weight % | Unity contribution |
|---|---|---|
| B₂O₃ | 55.4 | 1.001 |
| CaO | 44.6 | 1.000 |
- Equivalent weight
- 125.73
- Fired weight
- 125.73
- Loss on ignition
- 0%
The equivalent weight is the grams of Calcium Borate Frit 32.21 (Keramikos) that hold 1.0 mole of flux. The fired weight is what is left of that after firing.
Hazards and safety
Hazards: Leadless. Keramikos and Ve-Ka state that it is not classified as hazardous under CLP. Avoid breathing the dust.
Use it in a recipe
